The Latin word for Kingfisher is Halcyon. In an ancient Greek myth, the halcyon bird was given several days each winter when the sea would be still so that it could nest. Even today in Greece, Halcyon Days are winter days when the stormy seas become tranquil and sunny. Thus this word has also come to mean a sense of peace.
At Kingfisher Crossing, Spiritual Direction provides a safe haven where the rough waters of life can be exchanged for a peaceful refuge. It is in this quiet place of stillness that we can listen together for God. In spiritual direction, the director comes alongside Jesus-followers to help direct their hearts to the One who can restore their souls, give guidance, and purpose. |
